Brush cleaning for the inside walls of dome storages

DomeSweeper cleaning the inside wall of a dome storage from a telehandler boom

DomeSweeper automates the cleaning of the internal concrete walls of dome-type storages — for mineral fertilizers, cement, lime and agricultural products. It replaces slow, unsafe manual cleaning, where crews are exposed to dust and heavy physical strain.

Materials it cleans

The build-up on dome walls is usually hygroscopic and cakes onto the concrete. DomeSweeper is designed to remove residues of:

Mineral fertilizers — urea, ammonium nitrate, potash (MOP), NPK, DAP/MAP: highly hygroscopic, cake hard, aggressive to concrete.

Sugar — raw and refined: hygroscopic, forms a hard crust on the walls.

Salt — technical, de-icing and food grade: draws moisture, cakes, corrosive.

Cement — sets and hardens on the wall as soon as it picks up moisture.

Lime — quicklime and hydrated: reacts with moisture and clings to the surface.

Gypsum and phosphogypsum — cake and build up on the walls.

Soda ash — hygroscopic and prone to caking.

Grain and by-products — meal, cake, bran, DDGS: residues cling and are prone to caking and mould.

Alumina and cement clinker — fine abrasive dust settles and sticks.

Biomass — wood pellets, sugar-beet pulp, husks: swell and stick when damp.

How it works

Mounts on a front loader or telehandler in place of the bucket — changeover takes only minutes.

All drives are hydromotors, powered by the carrier’s own hydraulics and controlled by the operator from the cab.

The brush shaft works under constant pressure — it auto-adjusts to wall irregularities and to brush wear for consistent cleaning quality.

An electronic positioning system tells the operator when the machine is at the right distance from the wall.

Brushes can be matched to the stored product and swapped in a few minutes.

The design is complete; final figures are confirmed during production engineering.

Estimated performance: a full dome of about 50 m in diameter is cleaned in roughly 20 hours by one machine and one operator — a calculated estimate, with no crews working at height in dust.

Advantages

High-speed, effective cleaning with no manual labour — several times faster than traditional manual methods.

Works over large areas quickly, at height and in hard-to-reach parts of dome storages.

Lower labour costs and safer work — no crews exposed to dust and physical strain.

Regular, quality cleaning extends the service life of the concrete structure.
